Welcome to our farm!

About Our Farm

We have been blessed with the farm of our dreams! We have a farm on 40 acres, just north of Clovis New Mexico.

We decided to move from Florida to follow our hearts back out west. Although New Mexico is new to us, we are going to follow our old farm dreams and finally be able to set some roots- no easy feat being a military family.

The farm that we purchased is an older one. It was well loved, raised a large family and provided well for them. As time went on, the family aged, and the old farm house did too. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring this beautiful home back to its former glory and once again fill it with the love and laughter of a large family.

Although we have a long road ahead with renovations and updates on the home, we have big plans for this place! Currently, we are redoing the interior of the home, cleaning up the outside, planning and preparing gardens, planning and installing chicken coops, redoing barns, adding pastures and converting a barn into an area for me to house and milk a herd of dairy goats. Although this process won’t happen overnight, we welcome you to join us through it all.

Once we get everything fixed up, we plan for our farm to have an apiary, a dairy goat herd, poultry, whatever 4-H critters my kids have at the time, and host a full service horse boarding barn.

About Me

I am Alexis Griffee, a sleep deprived and coffee fueled 4-H Mom, homesteader, mule rider, military wife, Extension Office employee, and a freelance writer. Even through it all, first and foremost, I am a wife and a mother. I am a mother to my four beautiful kids, and a wife to an amazing husband of 14 years. Juggling it all can be a challenge at times, but there is nothing I would ever change-well most days anyway.

Be prepared. We do real here. My family is not always butterflies and rainbows. Sometimes it is arguing kids, mules that got out of the pasture or, the frenzy before a fair or livestock show, and last minute deployments. As a writer, my promise to you is to bring it all to the table, the good, the bad and the caffeine fueled life lessons. My hope for this page is that you can learn from both my successes, and mistakes, and that they will help you in your own life.

When I get a chance to step away from the Mom and farm duties for a bit, I am a freelance writer. I mainly write for Countryside magazine, but I have also been published with Acres USA, Backwoods Home, Molly Green, Hoegger’s Farmyard, Backyard Poultry, Mother Earth News and other publications. Currently, I am also pursuing other writing opportunities as well as working on a book series for young readers. For me, writing started simply as a way to relax and unwind from the long days. Luckily, I have been able to grow my love for writing and share it with others.

Nowadays, Blogging and writing is a big business. People will do whatever it takes to get them exposure, even if it means fabricating the truth or making bold claims and assumptions. They will get that “shock factor” that brings in sales at any cost! There are entire website devoted to paying writers for fake reviews and blog posts on their products. My promise to my readers is that I will NOT take part in any of this! If I recommend a product, it is because I have used it and truly believe in it, not that I see you as a potential pay day! I also promise that the advice I give will all come from my first-hand knowledge, or that I will have personally seen this in action through others.

There is so much misinformation and even dangerous information on the Internet right now- especially when it comes to farming and children. Personally, I *hate* having to wade through it all and decide what is real and what is not. You won’t have that worry here.

My four beautiful kids.

Now, I would like to present you with a challenge. My challenge is simple; I want you to engage with me. I love to write but I also love to help others so please, let me know how I am doing! Whether it is an article on mules or the military, I want to know how I did. Please comment, share, and pin. Also, do not forget to sign up for email notifications so that you don’t miss a thing! I look forward to getting to know you all!
